CERTSURE LLP trading as NICEIC Scheme
Scottish Building Standards legislation, allows for the appointment of Approved Certifiers of Design and Approved Certifiers of Construction. Properly qualified electricians can become Certifiers and have the authority to certify work.
Only a Scheme Provider appointed by BSD can assess and appoint Certifiers. Certsure LLP Trading as NICEIC and SELECT are able to register both Approved Bodies and Approved Certifiers of Construction.
An Approved Body must employ at least one Approved Certifier of Construction and meet the criteria set out in the Scheme Guide. Individuals who wish to register as an Approved Certifier of Construction must meet the criteria set out in the Scheme Guide. An Approved Certifier of Construction can only certify work when employed by an Approved Body.
Only Approved Bodies are able to purchase, issue and manage certificates through the certification area of the SBSC website. Certificates are priced at £5 each plus VAT and can be purchased in blocks of five only. Certificates are ordered, printed and managed from within the secure area of the SBSC website. A certification Checklist, to support completed certificates, can also be completed and printed from the website.
Sole practitioners must apply as both an individual and a body using appropriate application forms.
The cost of fees relating to initial application, registration and annual renewal are available by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 0333 202 5723.
For a contractor who maintains satisfactory NICEIC Approved Contractor status the Approved Body fee is waived. Other fees relating to Approved Certifier of Construction are subject to terms and conditions - please contact us for details.
Approved Bodies and Certifiers of Construction will be assessed by NICEIC on an annual basis. The assessment is to confirm their continued suitability for registration, the standard of the electrical installation work satisfies the requirements of BS7671 and the Building Standards and that certification is being undertaken to a satisfactory standard.
The management of the scheme and auditing processes undertaken by NICEIC are themselves subject to audit by the BSD on behalf of The Scottish Ministers and the results made available by publishing a report on their website.
